Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 11 July 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern use of the Shadow Security platform by both security officers and businesses. By using the platform you agree to these terms. Additional role-specific terms apply — see Officer Terms and Business Terms.
1. Platform role
Shadow Security operates a technology marketplace that connects UK businesses with independent, SIA-licensed security professionals. Shadow Security is not a supplier of security services, is not an employer or agent of any officer, and does not provide security services directly.
2. Responsibility disclaimer
Shadow Security is not responsible for the actions, conduct or performance of any security officer or business using the platform.
- Businesses are responsible for selecting suitable officers for their needs.
- Officers are responsible for delivering their services professionally, safely and in accordance with UK law.
- Any disputes arising from a booking are between the officer and the business.
3. Liability limitation
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shadow Security is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, incident or failure of service arising from any booking or interaction facilitated by the platform. The platform provides tools for connection and verification only. Users agree to use the platform at their own risk.
4. Verification
Shadow Security operates a verification programme that includes checks on identity, SIA licence, right to work and supporting documents. Verification is a good-faith assessment based on the documents provided by the applicant at the time of the check and does not amount to a guarantee of any officer's conduct or ongoing eligibility.
5. User responsibilities
All users must provide accurate information, maintain the security of their account, and use the platform lawfully. Providing false information or documents is a material breach of these terms and may result in immediate suspension or removal, and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
6. Suspension & removal
Shadow Security reserves the right to suspend or permanently remove any user who breaches these terms, provides false information, allows essential licences to expire, or engages in misconduct.
7. Data protection
Personal information and documents are processed in accordance with UK data protection law. Sensitive documents such as ID, licences and right-to-work evidence are stored securely, are only accessible to authorised administrators, and are never shown on public profiles.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform. Continued use after any update constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
